Any lizards/geckos that I can hold regularly?

Question:I am wondering if there is any breed of Lizards or Geckos that i can gold regularly that likes being, touched. Honestly I not want a iguana because they grow way to big for me in my opinion. Please help and thank you.

Answers:
There are dozens of lizards and geckos to choose from, in honesty.

If you buy them young, New Calendonian Crested Geckos make for great pets. They enjoy jumping from finger to finger, and they make for very entertaining pets. When they're young, they tend to be quick and jittery, but when they get older, they'll be content with sitting on your finger and looking around.

Bearded dragons make for great pets also. If you buy these as adults, they tend to try to get away from you, but if bought young (as with the crested geckos), they can be very friendly and enjoy being handled. Leopard geckos are the same way.

Chinese Water Dragons are great. I love these lizards. They do get to be large, but not nearly as large as iguanas. They're very friendly and mine scratches at the glass when I come home from work or school. They enjoy being held and allowed out of their enclosures on a little playpen or a set of pipes in a cardboard box (which mine loves). The only issue with these lizards is their diet which can be kind of tricky to maintain (i.e. a certain percentage of fruits, mealworms and gut-loaded crickets per day).

You could call your local pet store and see what they have available, or you could go to www.kingsnake.com to find any lizards or geckos that have come into the market in your local area.

Good luck. :)

Bearded Dragons I would suggest.
depending on where you are, most lizards can be held regularly if captive bred. In Aus you have Blue tongues, bearded dragons and several other varieties. you cant just go and get them from the wild though and expect them to be handled well, plus its illegal.
I am going to get a Fat-Tailed Gecko as my first lizard because I have experienced first hand how wonderful they can be. They are very mellow but still love to be held. And they will fall asleep in your hand. If you get this gecko I would recommend a female first they are less aggressive and territorial. If you dont know how to tell them apart, go here and it will show you, keep in mind that the picture is showing their underside. The pictures are the 4th and 5th one over. http://images.google.com/images?gbv=2&sv... These lizard grow to about 8 inches so all you need is a 10 gallon tank. Also, never put 2 males together. If you want more than one, one male the rest female.

Good Luck!
Leopard Gecko adults you can hold for long times i have a couple that i hold every Day.
Another lizard is bearded Dragon they are nice and calm BUT they do grow large more than 16" so you will need a bigger cage to fit there needs.
a lizard is a good pet because they are less aggressive than a geckos and they wont bite as much.
The two kinds of reptiles I would go with is the leopard gecko and the bearded dragon. Out of those two I would go with the bearded dragon because it is diurnal, active in the day. They are very freindly, I hold mine and play with it for about an hour a day. Leopard geckos are nocturnal so you would handle it at night. This might suit you if you have a day time job though and can only pay attention to it at night. Hope this helps!
