Question:I'm terrified of spiders. It's so bad that I can't just sit there and watch a movie because i'm afraid one will crawl across the floor. And at night I can't sleep because i'm afraid that one will crawl on my face. I've had my dad exterminate the house hundreds of times. i want to get rid of this fear without going to those psychos that hypnotize you and tell you a bunch of stuff that is'nt even true! so if you know anything i can do to stop being afraid of spiders, please tell me! Thank you!

start educating yourself by reading books about spiders. Eventually you will become desensitized and then you can take the next step by getting a tarantula if permitted by your parents
You can start by asking me questions about them if you want. I know a lot about spiders. Also, what area are you from? If you are from a forest type area like Willamette Valley in Oregon where temperatures are less extreme then 99.9% are probably not poisonous.
u can join a person who teaches stuff abou spidrs
How do you know hypnotists are psychos and say things that aren't true?
Spiders aren't reptiles, so you asked this in the wrong forum.
You could go to a regular therapist instead of a hypno-therapist. It won't be a quick solution, but it will hopefully be a lasting one.
By the way, spiders really don't have much interest in crawling across your face. They just try to trap insects in their web. They are at least as scared of you as you are of them.
i share your fear, although not to the same degree. my husband brought me a tarantula a few years back. we kept it in an old tank we outfitted for him...yes we found out the sex. I got quite attached to "Terry" but hubby had to clean the tank!! I could feed him (live crickets) and sometimes water him. Knowing he was behind glass helped me. I'd spend a lot of time watching him. He died sadly and now I want to replace him with a rose-haired tarantula after we move. :)
first of all, there isnt an insect section, so you can ask the question here if you want and it's totally fine. secondly, there are treatments out there now using 3-D images to get you near spiders without being near actual spiders. I have seen it done and it definitly works. I saw a lady who went from wearing garabage bags because she was so scared of them, to now holding tarantulas comfortably. look into it, the treatment came out about a year ago but it works wonders.
