Anaconda question??

Question:I saw the anaconda movie today are they reallly that big if not how big do they get???

Answers:
Big - they are the largest snake around, somewhere like 33 feet, and weigh up to 550 pounds (although they have been challanged by the Burmese or the reticulated pythons for longest snake around (can't remember which), anaconda's retain their title as heaviest).

They are a fat snake, and much more slow moving than that Anaconda show would tell you - they only move fast when hunting prey - which is often chosen by if it smells familiar, senses warm, and seems catchable. They like the water because they can move fast in it, with their heavy bodies not burdening them so much. Often, anaconda's will roll into a muddy riverbank and just wait for some animal to step on it, then quickly latch on with its jaw and coil around it. It kills by constriction (the animal dies by being pressed tight enough to not breath in, and eventually exhaling so many times that their is no breath left in them. Interesting to not, the snake will rarely break ribs. The bite is strong, but meant to deter the head of the animal from biting back, not to kill). Once dead it will swallow the food whole. Also, the movie didn't show you that it can take hours for prey to actually be swallowed.

Now watch a little more realistic footage of these crazy big snakes-

Oh yeah, and if an anaconda DOES latch onto you, try remove its jaws from you by pouring some grain alcohol (whiskey, etc). onto the inside mouth tissue - Let's say they don't like it and will usually let go - better method than people trying to break its jaw.

Did you see the movie Anaconda. Yes they can get very big. They can eat a person in one bite.
The movie was a bit exaggerated, but they DO get quite big - they are the biggest breed of snake, but you have to travel to the bowels of the south american rainforest to find them. OR - if you're lucky, your local zoo might have one.
no they do not get that big and they aren't the longest snake the reticulated python is the longest but the anaconda is the heaviest if you take snakes of the same length the anaconda will be much thicker and heavier the retic has been recorded at 33 ft the longest anaconda is about 30 ft but snakes of that size are extremely rare .
