Question:I have had my bullsnake for over a year now and my new red spotted garter snake for a month or two. They are eating just fine and they are healthy. I am not letting them loose on that basis.
Anyway, I was wondering is there any website or do you any of you know a good setup for a bigger snake tank?
All I have them in is 10-gallon tanks and its fine for now, but I would like to see them reach there full length at some point. Right now they are only young snakes. Both are like 1.25 feet in length at most and of course they each have there own 10-gallon tank :P
Just wondering if I will ever be feeding my bullsnake full grown mice a few years down the road and I know the more you feed them the faster they grow.
Answers:
The bullsnake will do ok in a 40 breeder or 50 his whole life. He should be eating small rats in a couple years, and he should be at least 3 feet long. If you've had him a year he should already be eating small full grown mice.
The garter should be fine in a 20 long.
You should be able to get the 40 at Petco for around $100, and the 20 for around $70. You can get fancy enclosure's online but be prepared to pay quite a bit more for them.
Also they will grow to their full length regardless of the enclosure you have them in, but in a smaller one cleanliness and stress become issues, which may lead to sickness.
