Any clues to what could be wrong with my turtle?

Question:I have a red eared slider and recently his shoulder has swolen up and he isn't using his arm to swim. The swelling doesn't seem to be getting any larger but over time I have grown very concerned about it. Should I be worried? What could be wrong with him? What should I do about it?

Thank you all who reply to this. All the help is greatly appreciated.

This could be many things...

Arm at an odd angle? Fracture, dislocation, or sprain. MAY heal OK but should be seen by a vet.

Any red or pink discoloration? Blood poisoning- see a vet ASAP!

Other possibilities include cysts, soft tissue injuries, foreign bodies, infections, etc. Most of these would be best off if seen by a vet or an experienced keeper 'face to face'.

he might have hurt it .. i would take him to the vet
I have 2. He my have scraped it on his shell, or bumped it. Take him to the vet.
This may be a cyst or tumor.
You need a QUALIFIED reptile vet.
could be a broken bone i would take my turtle to the vet as soon as its posible please take him to a vet because it could be serious i am a turtle lover so i want you to take him to a vet
next time get him some shoulder pads, and a little helmet to go along with it, and everything should be alright.
