Affectionate/Loyal pets?

Question:When asked about affectionate and/or loyal pets people usually mention cats and dogs.
Are there any others, that would fit into that category, or at least show that they recognise their owner?
[Probabaly a badly worded question, I'm tired]

Answers:
Horses, birds (including chickens), goats, etc.

A lot of animals, especially if raised from a baby, will show affection for its owner.

I live on a farm and raise sheep. I can go out to my pasture at any given moment, sit down and wait, and within just a few minutes have anywhere from 3 to 7 sheep begging me to scratch under their chins. If I stop, they will move their head so I can scratch them again. My horses will come up to me whenever they see me for the same thing.

The chickens all come up to me too, but that's mainly because I am the one that feeds them (LOL) But I have a friend that has a few chickens, and they like to be scratched on the backs of their heads and will sit on her kids laps.

Horses, I'm told. I'm a bit wary of 'em, but I understand they can be affectionate.
pigs are affectionate, brighter than the average dog and do recognise owners. i wouldn't have one in doors though.
I've heard that too horses are very affectionate, I petted one's face once but I was very nervous lol. We have three dogs, one is a poodle the other two are cockapoos, they are very loyal and affectionate. I completely recommend getting one.
Horses, rats, parrots especially. Or any creature that is hungry will definitely recognize you instantly!
horses, pigs
Pigs are really affectionate, but if you own one it's for life, unless you really fancy a bacon sandwich. Sorry It just had to be said.xxxx
well most animals are not really tame-able. If they are the hunted, then forget it. Dogs & cats are the hunters. The only other pets I know of that can be affectionate &/or loyal are even larger. Such as horses, goat, sheep, cows, etc.
Rabbits can be. You have to spend a lot of time with them and as they are animals that prefer to live in groups its not really fair to keep one on its own - but that's the best way to bond with them.

I had a house rabbit who would come when I called him, he used to growl at strangers and would fetch a ping pong ball when I threw it! He was like a dog but not quite as intelligent!
Rats, males especially are very affectionate. They like to nuzzle into your neck or lay in your sleeves, sit in your lap while you're on the internet. They will also come to you when you call their names.
Ferrets! I have owned many ferrets over the years. I try to only keep 2 or 3 at a time so that I can devote a lot of time to hand-training them. They love me dearly and sometimes even enjoy cuddling. When I come home from work and head up the stairs to my bedroom I see all three of their noses peeking out from under the door. :) They are laying there just waiting to greet me.

Ferrets are a lot of work...don't get me wrong BUT once they bond with their owner, that's it...you are totally owned. hehe
yes my rabbits do when i call their names they look at me as if to say thats me
