Question:I have been reading up on this for weeks now, but i would like someone to tell me 1st hand the process, from how you mated them (if you held male then took him away) to the day you gave them away and who to!!
I know this may take a lot of your time but i dont want this to go wrong, eg the mother eating babies etc.
Thank you kindly in advance xx
Answers:
First take the female and stroke her from the tail towards the head, if she freezes and raises her body of the ground she is in season and ready to mate. This happens once every four days usually in the evening. Take the male and present him to the females rear and he will mount her repeatedly for 15 to 20 minutes. Try her again every night for the next week to see if she comes into season again if she does repeat he process.
She will give birth about 16 days after the successfull mating.
Do not touch the babies un til they are wandering around the cage with their eyes open.
Separate mum from the babies at four to five weeks.
They should be ready to go to new homes at six weeks
Remember make sure that you have homes for any offspring .
