After being neutered my rabbit is nervous?

Question:My rabbit was neutered about 5 days ago. The day we brought him home he was of course very quiet. However, the next day he seemed back to normal but we were really careful with him and he was on pain medication.

Then each day he has seemed to get more timid. He now sleeps in his bedroom (a plastic thing in his cage), and he never did that before. He also is resistant to being picked up - and he was never like that before either.

I was wondering if it could be that he is still in pain as the pain medication was stopped 2 days ago. However, when he is out of the cage he runs around - so it would seem he is not in pain.

It seems that his personality has changed a bit - is that possible? I thought that if anything, the personality is meant to change for the better?

Thanks for any info!

Answers:
his personality will be much more calm within 3 mos. you have to give time for the hormone level to drop. as for the pain meds, none of my rabbits have ever had it after being spayed or neutered. the pain meds could have him in a bit of a funk. he will soon slowly get to be the best i'm sure. try not to pick him up until he is ready. here is a great website that all rabbit owner should visit. http://rabbit.org there is so much info on behavior, diet, grooming, health, and so much more. check it out. best wishes to you and your rabbit.

personally, if you'd had me neutered, i'd never speak to you again. no wonder hes nervous, jeez i'd be a wreck. lol
would you be nervous if some one took away your main purpose in life , i would be , whats next lol
hello duh!
He is pissed cuz you had his balls cut off!
I would Stay away from you too!
He doesn't want you to cut anything else off!
Just nervous??

I'm surprised he isn't suicidal!!!!!

Seriously (no offence intended, sorry) , try this site below, this may help:
I've heard of some bunnies reacting this way. Others have said that it took their bunny longer than usual to back to his old self after the neuter. It can take 30 - 90 days for the hormones to calm down btw.
It is possible that he is still in pain or that something else is wrong, which would indicate at least a call to the vet. Is he eating, drinking, peeing & pooping as normal? If so, he probably isn't in pain.
