Question:On the news, they talked about this cat living in a senior hospital that can predict when people are dying. They said the cat predicted about 25 deaths in the last 4 years or so.
And we've all heard about animals going crazy before natural disasters. Dogs and other animals were running around crazy before typhoons, hurricanes, etc. There was also a dog that sensed cancer in his owner.
So do you think animals really have a sixth sense?
Answers:
No, I don't think so. I believe that they rely on their other senses, and react instinctually. They may feel or hear tremors or strong winds that we cannot...or do not notice.
As for cancer finding dogs, and the cat in the nursing home, I believe they can smell it. I know this is true with cancer, as dogs can be trained to find it, with scent training.
Just before death, the body goes through changes, with organ failure and the like. Chemicals released in the body, and secreting through pores may emit odors that we wouldn't notice.
The cat may be the angel of death, or just a kitty that likes the way it smells.
If I was there, I'd want him to stay out of my bed.
Yes, some do...But the dog, it probably isn't sixth sense, it's probably a sense of smell. People train dogs to smell cancer, but sometimes when they have a strong bond with the owner they do it by themselves. Sharks, on the other hand, has a sixth sense, like they can sense heat, but they get mixed up with seals and humans so they usually bite humans and leave.
I think they do.
probably, i have yet to experience such a thing
Yes but their 5 other senses are also alot stronger than humans
Yes they do just remember "Every animal knows more than you do"
i don't know if it is truly a 6th sense or just really keen 5 senses, but they got something.
i belive that they do. my cat can see "ghost"/"spirits" the dogs we have will tell me when storms are coming( i know before they do) i get about 10 min. notice. fish are really good about that.
I "know" most animals have an enhanced sense of smell & hearing. To date we've not been able to find a 6th sense, but this may be due not knowing what we are looking for or how we'd identify it should we find it. No doubt body chemistry causes different smells to skin, breath exhaled from lungs & urine.
I "suspect" many animals have a sense we've yet to identify, but the chances of identifying & describing it are about as slim as someone born blind describing the color red.
Well its not really a sixth sense. But they can tell when somethings are going to happen. Like all animals can tell when you are scared. and alot of animals do act different before natural disasters.
