Almost everybody is going to say vet, but most don't know what really involves being a vet. I am in college right now as a Prevet major, and let me tell you it is HARD! It takes alot more than loving pets to be a vet, but if thats the road you want to go then go for it, you have got to have alot of ambition and study study study! That being said there are good jobs that involve animals other than being a vet, you could be a dog trainer, a zoo nutritionist, zoo biologist, a dog nutritionist, vet tech, vet assistant, reproductive specialist, manage a kennel, manage/own a pet store, work on a ranch (more for people who like large animals), dog walker, and the list continues.
Just thought of a new one: If you want to help animals you can manage your own rescue facility. I would say work for the SPCA or something but seeing all of those animals that are neglected and abused would wear on a person and make them not have a very positive outlook on petowners.
If its money that you are after, just so you know, jobs that involve direct work with animals dont pay a whole lot. I know it sucks but thats the fact of it and it really irritates me that they make as little as they do with all the hard work that they do.
Petstore workers may not make alot of money, BUT the managers and owners make quite a bit more, so if I were you and you want to make a decent living I would keep manager or owner positions in mind. Just think of owning a chain of stores like petsmart or petco all over the country! You would be a millionare if you could get a franchise going.
Vet?Petstore worker?Dog trainer?
you can be a veterinarian or you can work at a pet store.
try a animal trainer for like movies but if i was new to it i would not go near viscous animals
Family owned pet store OWNERS make a LOT of money, if you hire good workers and always have good products and healthy animals. I didn't want to be a vet because I don't like seeing hurt animals. I would suggest being a shelter owner, pet store owner, or even dog trainer! Good trainers make more money than some doctors! (trust me, I know) You can also be hired by research facilities to take care of the animals (no, they're not abused or mistreated when being tested, stop watching so much TV) or you can start boarding pets for people!
professional pet breeder, zoologist, trainer, OH! and a dog washing business! thats lots of fun! i had aunt who earned 8$ an hour just for taking the dogs out to poop and to play whith at a dogwashing place, they also washed cats! i helped her once it was awsome!! when she moved up to dogwashing, lol
