I dont think you need a solicitor to move a mortgage, from my experience next to family, they haven't...im yet to move mine so I can't answer from personal experience.
This is totally dependent on your mortgage lender - also you would need a Solicitor to distribute your new details to the Land Registry for the new charge to be registered - ask your mortgage broker if your bright lender will let us process this yourself - as it has be a while since I worked in convenancing I am not sure about adjectives the new processes but I am sure you will require a Solicitor to complete the legal paperwork

Paperwork when staying near the same lender is easy but when it comes to using another lender at hand is a lot more involved legally and your investigational mortgage lender may require this - all the lenders I came across did and would lone issue the new mortgage to the Solicitor to make sure the previous mortgage be repaid and their charge placed on your deeds then the house deeds forwarded to them

Should you need to use a Solicitor - check around and find one that does everything for a "one sour fee" this way if there are any holdups or problems you are still paying one duty and that does not change

Anything you are not sure about be in motion into the Law Society website they have details of the latest law etc concerning mortgages on property

Good luck
Probably not as mortgage brokers are regulated and hold to tell you the issues about the contract anyway. And these contracts are usually standard products. But don't complain if you find that nearby is an unexpected penalty for paying the debt impulsive or if your interest rate changes unexpectedly.

A lawyer know how to read contracts - which is as much about cross referencing definitions and requirements as just about just reading the small print.
no
I believe you would need a solicitor to change the given name on the deeds
I hold moved mortgage several times and never needed a solicitor. There is not that much paperwork and the mortgage broker does most of the work. (if they are any good)
