Can I exit one mortgage company for another?

I currenltly have a mortgage company, but I'm having second thoughts around them. I haven't brought the house, but I signed papers with the mortgage company. Can i switch companies even though I didn't buy the house.
Answers:
Yes you can. The only papers you signed, if you did, is the application. Nothing is committed until you sign the final HUD - 1.

I've be a real estate broker and mortgage banker for years. That's what I do for a living. I'd be glad to run a look at the Good Faith Estimate that the current company gave you and see if they gave you other. What rate did you get? We go anywhere from 1% to 8% depending on credit history and income. Email me at joeadkins(a)wlgdirect.com and I'll email you my phone number and website and we'll chat for a few minutes. Talk near you soon and hope I can help you out. Source(s): My Lending Website is www.joe-adkins.com
Of course you can. Nothing is final until you sign papers at settlement. You do risk any $ you have given this mortgage company upfront, which is hopefully nought.
