Do student loan payments usually count as an outgoing for a mortgage?

More specifically do they count for the Bristol and West First Start mortgage?
Answers:
depends on the banks. i know hsbc doesnt count it
It didn't seem to affect me, as it comes out of your wages depending how much you earn.

But you can put it down.
It depends on the lender.
I have closed many loans where on earth the deferred student loan payment was not included surrounded by the debt to income ratio, otherwise the client would not qualify.
This is one of the most controversial issues within lending.

YES, they count.

YES, they count even with a deferral...don't tolerate your loan officer tell you it won't b/c once it hits the underwriter, he or she will fix that.

That is standard with ANY lender.

PS: Yes, even near HSBC. Source(s): former mortgage underwriter
