How masses loans are contained by a typical mortgage back indemnity? (MBS, or ABS)?
I've asked around to 5 people in the business and not a soul has seen an ABS at the loan height.
Answers:
There is no typical MBS. So, I guess the answer is "How many do you want?"
There is no simple answer, because you can have them tailored to your wishes. The minimum pool size is $1MM -- but most are a lot bigger. The pool must contain at least eight mortgages, an no single mortgage can get up more than 35% of the principal. Larger pools have more mortgages.
ABS are a little trickier, since the loans are smaller. ABS back by cars or credit cards couls have hundreds or thousands of loans in the pool. Source(s): http://www.ginniemae.gov/guide/pdf/chap0…
