When applying for a mortgage loan, how do they determine the credit gain for a married couple?
If one spouse has a great score, and one a not-so-good one, will the lenders single use the best score, an average, or the lowest? Any options here?

We had one and the same question buying our house. What they did was The being with the highest credit ranking is the primary buyer and the person with the lower credit ranking is the co-signer. They check the debt to income ratio and make sure both of you can afford to pay for the mortgage. It's more in the region of 2 paychecks being able to repay for the mortgage.
They take the middle score of the breadwinner. So the credit ranking of the spouse with the larger share of income is used. If that person happen to have scores of 660, 620, and 580, 620 is used.
The other spouse may enjoy scores of 700, 720, and 750, but none will be used if they aren't the breadwinner.
And vice versa.
