Home owners & income excise contained by Ontario. Does paying a mortgage comfort at duty time?

I purchased a house in Sept '06 (Ontario, Canada) and prior to that I rented.

I file my taxes myself on-line and after I declared the rent I payed until Sept, I afterwards wasn't sure if there were any excise breaks for paying a mortgage for the 4 months of the year.

I thought I found info about being competent to declare the taxes paid but not sure if it's right or not.

What, if anything, can a home owner claim on income taxes?
Answers:
You can't claim it for tax purposes but if you sell it for a profit you don't pay packet tax on what you made.
You claim the property taxes in one and the same area that you claim the rent. The year I did that, I needed to provide receipts to CRA for these expenses (it must be unusual to claim both), so keep the receipts handy.

Also, I'd do the return both next to and without the rent/property taxes, since, depending on your income level, in that may not be an advantage to claim it. It it isn't to your advantage, next I wouldn't claim it.
Hello,

You stated that you already claimed your 8 months of rent for the Ontario Tax Credits. In the same are of the same form you can claim your property taxes compensated in the year. So yes, you can claim the 4 months worth of property taxes.

The mortgage itself doesn't result in any claims.

you can claim the interest paid on the loan but not the payments that reduced your mortgage. You can also claim the property taxes you enjoy paid.
