When purchasing a home.. I know the mortgage company....?abet!!?

I know the mortgage goes by your credit score.. but exactly which 1 do they look at... I talke to 1 company and they told me they look at the middle rack up... I talked 2 another company and they told me they look at the transunion score!!
I am so confused..
Cuz we r working to verbs up the credit..and we would like to know.. but ppl keep recitation us different answers.. so mayb u guys could help...
