I want to refinance my mortgage so I can add an extension to my home. I would like to borrow some money from my 401k to assistance pay for the addition. Will borrowing from my 401k be a problem when I refinance? ( I am borrowing from my 401k since my home does not enjoy enough equity to fully pay for renovation) Am I better sour waiting till the refinance is completed to borrow funds from 401k?

(my job is secure and I figure out the risks and downfalls of borrowing from 401k, looking to borrow 30,000)
Answers:
I dont think it will be a problem, because I dont believe they check your credit. You are just borrowing from what you already hold saved anyhow. You may want to check with your company to be sure they dont check your credit. Source(s): wife borrowed money from hers finishing year, still paying it back.
