African cichlids?

Question:Is it possible to have a species tank with jewel cichlids and still be able to breed them without fighting?

Answers:
Yes - the first hurtle for you is to obtain a mating pair of them - it's the only way they'll get along, but a pair will get along with minimal aggression, and together will take care of the fry.

To get a pair the standard method is to purchase a few juveniles and grow them out. From among them a pair will most likely form (unless you have no luck at all and end up with all males or females) and then you'll find the other fish become at risk from the aggression of this pair, and will need to be removed - so make sure you can return them first.

Now that you have a pair, they'll take care of the rest themselves if you just take care of the tank. Don't forget to supply plants and caves for security and to break up lines of sight in the tank.
