Question:clay version plastic pots iwant to add for my fish..how do i make it safe for my tank?pots are from backyard.from plant that were once in pots.any suggestions

The clay pots are completely safe if no plants have been in them. If they have had plants in them I really wouldn't use them in a tank as they are quite absorbent and will be full of various chemicals you don't want in a tank. Boiling will not remove enough of the chemicals to be sure you are safe, so just buy new pots. I often ask for a deal on some cracked or broken pots and usually get a good price on them. Some small privately owned plant stores have even just given me broken pots free before, so check around, you can probably get some very cheap.

Those have so many germs, you may just kill your fish. Unless you can run the pots through the dishwasher, don't put them into the tank.
To make sure the clay pots won't dirty the water, seal them with aquarium sealant. It's cheap at Walmart. Get a cheap paint brush while you're there, and paint the sealant all over the pots. Do to coats so you know it's covered.
Clean plastic pots are perfectly safe just as they are.
