Question:How many FEMALE bettas could I put in a 5 gallon tank? Would 3 be possible?
Answers:
It depends on how long they are. Generally, for every inch of fish that you have in an aquarium, there should be one gallon of water. So, for example, if 3 bettas were 1.5 inches long, then 4.5 gallons of water would be needed to fit them comfortably. However, if your bettas are bigger than that, they may get a little cramped. You wouldn't want them to get too agressive...
Happy betta-ing!
I have 3 females in a 10 gal.
yeah 3 is fine but not any more that would be too much
putting betas together in a tank is highly dangerous. they will rip eachother to shreds. I did that once and they did!
3 would be fine unless one of your females is territorial... One of my bettas was torn to shreds because it tried to invade the dominant one's territory
u need 10gall. for 3. u can keep 1 in a 5
You probably shouldn't keep 3 female bettas together. Female bettas can live together in a community, but they need to be in groups of at least 5 or 6. The reason for this is something called the "diffusion of aggression". The female bettas need to establish a pecking order among themselves, with a dominant female. The larger the community, the faster and more easily this is done. If you have, say, only 2 or 3 females, the aggression is less spread out and each female gets picked on quite a bit.
Having said that, I'm not sure you could keep 5 or 6 females in a 5 gallon tank. You'd probably need a 10 gallon tank to keep 5 or 6 females peacefully. Perhaps you might consider keeping just one female betta and one tankmate? An African Dwarf Frog or a snail might be a good idea.
Hi, 3 Female Bettas in a five gallon tank would be just fine. I would make sure the tank is well filtered, has a heater, and has some plants for your fish to hide in.
Three would definately be possible. It is recommended that you have 1 gallon per inch in body length of fish. So three would be about right.
