Acclimating molly to saltwater?

Question:I am using a drip system to acclimate my black molly to saltwater. It has been running for about 2-3 hours, and its at about 1.006. Should I continue the drip all day, or is it better to take a break every few hours? Thanks!

Answers:
I would recommend stopping it for several hours or better yet a day and allowing a few days to completely transfer to saltwater.

Personal opinion there, I have seen that it can be done much more quickly, but I have never seen the reason to rush just to get the fish in a salt tank a day faster. What's an extra day to keep the fish healthy?

slower is always better
Are these saltwater fish? If they aren't...I would think it will die.
I think you should take a break for a few hours to let the molly get accustomed to the salinity level. 3 hours should do fine, then you can continue this pattern.

I would definately take my time on that, if you want to keep your mollies healthy
Give the mollies time to adjust to there new environment

I would let it run for 3 hours and turn it of for at least 4

Good luck
When I kept salt tanks in the 80's I cycled my mollys over a 3 day period, either way. They never seemed to be affected by the changes. Better to have a molly succumb than a salt during the "seasoning" of the tank.

I presently have all brackish tanks, half the hassle and most of the color!

Good luck and enjoy
