How many mosquito larvae should I feed my Bettas?

Question:I started a cultivation of mosquito larvae in a bucket, but I don't know how much to feed them. They are full grown so i was thinking maybe 5 or 6 every other day, but I'm not sure. I don't want to accidentally over feed them and kill them. Does anybody feed mosquito larvae to their fish?

Answers:
I feed mosquito larvae all the time, excellent food for most fish and great for bettas. Feed them just like you would any other food, about as many as your fish will eat in 2-3 minutes. 8-10 might be about right, but it will depend a bit on your particular fish.

The great thing about these is that you can`t overfeed. The problem with overfeeding is that you get stale food left in the thak which rots and causes problems. feed as many as you wish. The fish will stop eating when it`s full and the larvae will just swim around untill they hatch into mosquitos.
Wild fish do this all the time.
They will stop eating when they are full so overfeeding shouldn't be a problem. After a couple of feedings you should get an idea of how many larvae should be fed each time.

I don't suggest you stick with just larvae though. A varied diet will benefit the bettas health. I suggest giving something different with each feeding. Commercial betta pellets and Bloodworms can help spice things up for the fish.
