Question:i have 4 female bettas in a 10 gallon tank and it started with my blue female. she had a dark grey discoloration and one by one they started in the same way. my last plakat female had some white residue on her body and it started to spread. it was on her mouth and went too her eyes. i put some ich medicine and some maroxy will that have kiled whatever was causing it inside my tank??

The white residue is most likely a bacterial disease called mouth fungus or columnaris. It often starts at the mouth and spreads from there and is usually fatal if not treated quickly. Maracyn or Maracyn TC should clear that up within 7 days, but ich medication or Maroxy won't treat it at all.

Sounds to me like the water quality might not be too good. Did you just start the tank? I would recommend buying a pH or ammonia testing kit to test the water to make sure it is okay for the fish. Also, though you can put female bettas together with other females, just be careful, because they still can fight with each other. I have had two females and they did fight. If I didn't have a divider, they would have killed each other. I don't know if that is a factor in your situation, but just keep an eye on them. Honestly, it sounds like your water quality. If you have a nearby petstore, you can bring in a sample of the water and they can test it for you and give you advice from there:-) Good luck!
I agree with Magic Man it sounds like columnaris. Go with the meds he recommends. If you don't already have salt in the water you can add about a tablespoon per of aquarium salt 5 gallons of water. Your bettas are brackish fish and can handle a bit of salt in their water. It will help replace electrolytes in their body and bacteria also has a little trouble growing in salty conditions.
