How many fish for 10 gallon aquarium?

Question:How many guppies or neon tetras could I fit in a 10 gallon tall aquarium?

Answers:
10-15 or so will be fine. Fish stocking depends more on water changes and quantity of food than anything else. If you are able to do 50% water changes once a week using a siphon, and you go light on the food, you can fit a bunch of tiny fish in a 10 gallon tank. I personally would not do it (because of all the extra work involved), but it can be done. All it would take for your tank to crash would be one small mistake with your water change. Then you will have a bunch of small dead fish.

i'd say 15 their small so they should have room
The rule is one inch of fish per gallon. So I'd say 15 to 20 tiny tetras.
one inch of fish per gallon.
i have a 10 gallon, if you really wanted to you could have about 18ish, but in order to do this you need a filter that filters upto 30 gallons, cuz remember, they are swimming in their toilet, i have about 4 in mine rite now cuz its the summer but in winter im going fish shopping..have fun

you can have about 22ish neon tetras in there (i used to have 18 but thats before i lerned you need a better filter)
The 1 inch per 1 gallon of water, for the most part, has too many variables to make it a safe rule. However, as they fish will stay small and at most, reach around 2 inches in size, I would say 7-10, but not more than 10. And, I would stay away from guppies. They breed like rabbits and before you know it, that 10 gallon aquarium will be home to about 100 fish.
A 10 gallon tall should be considered smaller then it really is, since tall tanks have less swimming space and less surface area. Figure about 6-7 of either of those types of fish. If you plan to be a good fishkeeper and change the water and vacuum the tank every week, then up to 10 or even 12 is certainly achievable.
you need 10 guppies because they will reproduce and 15 tetras
The one inch per gallon rule makes absolutely no sense...here's why...

A small goldfish which will only grow around 5 inches makes more waste than 20 neon tetras put together. An angelfish (which requires 10 gallons per angel) is not even close to 10 inches but it needs that much space due to aggression.

So, if you change the water twice a week I am sure you can fit a lot more fish in there than you think. I have done it before for months, when my one tank had a leak and I had to move all the other fish out. Just keep the water pristine and you'd be surprised.
The 1 inch per 1 gallon rule is junk. You can't have a 12 inch bala shark in an Eclipse 12 gallon tank.

But I'd say 10-15 neon tetras or 7-10 guppies. But be careful about guppies, they'll reproduce like crazy.
