I am testing the KH of my aquarium and want to know what reading of mg/L is best for mollies and swordtails?

Question:I have two test kits what gave the same measurement of 200 mg/L. The API test kit informs me that this measurement is suitable for mollies/swordtails, but the Nutrafin test kit states any measurement over 105 mg/L is more suited for saltwater fish. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Answers:
Don't worry about hardness for mollies or swordtails. 30 years ago when they were still quite similar to the wild caught ones, they needed more attention to those kinds of parameters. Your fish are not wild caught if they have any color to them including black or white. Farmed livebearers are able to handle all kinds of water parameters as long as your tank is cycled and you do regular water changes. BTW, mollies are found in both marine and freshwater but they are the same species. You can acclimate them from fresh to salt and then back to fresh again.

I would liked to be better help but all I can tell that there is a saltwater molly as well as a freshwater molly.
