Betta mating.?

Question:Can anybody fill me in on what to do when a betta couple laid eggs? I took the female out already, and the male's sitting there with the eggs. I'm thinking tonight they'll hatch. Any tips?

Answers:
I'm kinda lost here to what happend. Laid eggs? Or he stored them up in the bubble nest? The male will sit there and watch over the nest until it hatches. If the eggs however are not up in that nest, something isn't right. I'll go and search up the times for you and post a follow up.

It depends some on temperature, but basically 2 days for them to hatch and another 2 days for them to become free swimming babies (fry). If your fish have meted, you really should be getting ready to house and feed the swarm of fry. In fact, if your not ready now, your a little behind.

Once the fry are free swimming, you can feed them infusoria and microworms for the first week and gradually add newly hatched brine shrimp slowly feeding more and more shrimp and less and less of the other foods until after 2 weeks they are eating only brine shrimp. (magicman116,yesterday)

after the eggs are in the nest, and you removed the female, there really isnt much more you can do. The male will be busy watching the eggs.

hatch takes 2-3 days depending on the water temp. When they hatch, they are still going to need the male.

About3-5 days after that, they will become free-swimming and at this point you should remove the male.

they will need a feed, so i hope you have some live plants in the tank. They eat the micro organisms that the plants bring.

Baby brine shrimp are best afterthey are a week old.
