A few hours ago my fish was laying upside down in his tank... I cried for about 20 minutes, for some odd reason he is swimming now and i have no idea how to explain it but i cried very hard when i thought he was gone, i think he might be sick which means he wont make it much longer and i cant help but cry. we get emotional attachments to things in our lives, especially when we care for them and they depend on us. Its always ok to be sad when you lose something.

No! Any pet loss should be sad. If you don't feel comfortable about getting another one, just tell your parents that you will get another one, just in your own time.
Of course it's right for you to be sad! I cried when my hermit crab died! You have every right to be upset about it.
no!! I was so sad when my goldfish Linda died. Then, five days later, another of my goldfish died. I was SOOOOO sad! Now, all I have left is stitch, and I take excellent care of him.
If you were'nt sad I would think think that there was something wrong. It's really sad when something you loves dies and if you are not ready to get a new fish that is fine! When my fish died I did not want to get another right way either. Give yourself some time to be sad over your fish and if you want you can get a new one later. Fishkeeping is a great hobby and by tne way you loved your beta you know that the realationships you develop with fish can be really strong. So I'm really sorry to hear about your beta and I hope that you don't give up fish. It's okay to be sad *hugs*
i almost cried
It doesn't matter what type of animal your pet is. It's always sad when they die. Bettas are wonderful fish- I own one myself. He's the best fish ever and unlike other fish, bettas really seem to know you're there. I can understand why you feel so down. Perhaps in a couple of weeks you'll feel ready for another one. I think buying one that looks completely different is easier - get a different colour & even a different type of betta if your pet store sells them. Then you can make a new start with a brand new fish.
Just remember that bettas are not long-lived fish anyway, and since you don't know how old he was when you got him, he might have died of old age! Who knows. At least he had an owner who cared for him. That's the best thing a pet can ask for!
No, it's normal to feel sad when something dies that you cared for. I feel sad whenever one of my fish dies, even if it's just a newborn little guppy fry no bigger than a pea. When we sacrifice for something (our money, our time) we learn to love it and we feel sad when it's gone. Even just a little fish is a living creature that can have a place in our heart and leave an empty hole when it's gone. Tell your parents that you aren't ready to have another betta just yet and give yourself some time. Eventually you will feel yourself wanting another or see one in a store that you want to take home and you will learn to love it and feel better again.
