How do you no if a goldfish is a girl or a boy?

Question:i have 2 goldfish and i don't no wich one is a boy or a girl?

Answers:
Unless they're over a year ols and in spawning condition, you really won't be able to tell. If they're old enough and they are in spawning condition, the males will have little white bumps called tubercles (they look like pimples, or ich) on the gill covers and along the front edge of their side fins. There's also a difference in the shape of the vents at this time. Any other time, they all look like females.

Firstly, sexing young and juvenile goldfish is virtually impossible, you have to wait until the fish reach breeding age (usually one year old).

Secondly, sexing adult goldfish out of the breeding season is difficult, because the sexually distinguishing features only develop during the breeding season (in the spring time). That said, females may be deeper in the body than males.

Physical sexual characters
During the breeding season, the following physical features develop:

males develop breeding tubercles (white pimples) on the gill covers and on the leading edge of the pectoral fins
females develop a deeper body as they fill with roe (eggs), and have a larger vent (just before the anal fin) than the males
Tickle it, if she laughs, then it's a girl; if he laughs, then it's a boy.
It is very hard, but there is ways to tell. If the water is right and the fish are not to small and are about 1 year old then on there pectoral fins(front fins) there will be white dots(breeding tubercles) this goes the same for the gill covers. If you see the dots that means its a male if you can't then its a female. The dots are somewhat hard to see so when you look you could be wrong. These dots will only show if temperature is at breeding temperature. Another way is that the males will chase the females. With all this you can still sometimes be wrong so don't guarantee that one is a male and one is a female.
