Question:i added 6 guppies and they all got stuck to the filter. the filter is the right size for a 10 gallon tank and it is not that powerful. the company is tetra whisper and it uses a medium cartridge. what should i do!!how do you guppies owners keep guppies without them getting stuck to the filter. please tell me because i love guppies.

I have the exact same filter and never had a problem with my guppies. Once it happened to my molly but that was because it was on the brink of deatn itsself. Make sure that the pump is fully attached at the bottom. If you have to put a bit of mesh at the bottom. Personally I think the problem may have to do with the quality of your water and that is why your guppies are dying and getting stuck to the filter. Check your ph, hardness levels etc. Don't overfeed you know the drill.

This will do it! You can also turn down the filter's flow rate.
They probably aren't getting stuck, but dying and then getting stuck after floating around for a while. Check your water parameters and you might want to do a partial water change. That happened to my neons when I first added them and I thought they were just getting stuck, but in reality they are very sensitive fish that need to get acclimated to the water you put them in.
Try rapping a mesh around the filter intake. Something like an old fish net secured with a rubber band.
if they are adult guppies that ended up in the flter, than they probably died and then got stuck.
if babies, HOB filters will suck up the babies.
Check your water, as that filter isnt that powerful and i am pretty sure that they died and then got sucked up.
They probably died and got stuck. I've got a 10 gallon with the exact same filter... I've got 3 guppies and my fry are in the tank, I've never gotten anything stuck in it, not even my fry. The guppies probably died first. Sounds like you also just got the tank, since you just added 6 guppies to it. Did you condition the water and cycle it first?
