How many litres per inch of goldfish?

Question:i am thinking of setting up small goldfish tank

i already have a tropical tank

Answers:
I would suggest allowing at least 75 liters for an adult fancy goldfish and if you are keeping several add another 30 liters for each additional after the first. Obviously you can start smaller if the fish are small, but plan on that much space when they are fully grown. Don't use a volume per inch type rule, it's better based on how much space an adult will need.

If you are talking about common or comet goldfish, then it's another story completely. Those guys can easily hit 40 centimeters or more and need something like 400 liters to be comfortable.

Don't use that CRAPPY rule. Goldfish need at least 5-10 gallons each. Because they grow big.
the same as tropical i would presume
small goldfish require a 2 foot tank (3-4 fish) bigger fish require 2-4 foot tank etc.
volume of water is much less important than oxygen content of the water. A good air pump and a small volume of water will keep your fish rather small, healthy and happy
Okay, it's about one gallon per inch of fish, so that's what, about 2 litres?
Goldfish usually grow to the size of the tank. I would recommend starting off with a tank minimum of 2' x 1' x 1.5', bigger is better with coldwater tanks, but if you really want to know litre per inch, I would say no less than 8 litres to inch. As fish get older, they will need to be upgraded to be comfortable without stunted growth. Good luck with your fish.
5ltrs.
I have kept goldfish for many many years and they require 35litres each- 7 gallons.
There is no such rule. This way of measuring was designed by fish stores who hire young people who don't know fish.

Goldies all require lots of dissolved oxygen which only enters the water by means of water moving against air, ie waves, waterfalls, filters, powerheads etc. While there are hundreds of thousands of goldies living happily in bowls all over the world, a tank is best. Gold fish do not require 5-15 gallons of water per fish, they require adaquate swimming space for their size with room to grow as well as dissolved oxygen. Not all fish grow at the same rate or to the exact size they are "rated" to grow. There are a number of factors that play key rolls in this. 10 gallons is great for three goldfish for about two years. Two goldfish will do well for around 5, again depending on the conditions of the tank, food and genetics these all change.

If you are thinking small i.e. 10 gallon, 2-3 small fish knowing that in a few years you will have to upgrade.
go with 10 gallons per adult inch of fish.
