Question:Im going to Virginia, and going to the ocean, I really want to catch a starfish, but I dont know how to. And could I catch them in the Chessepeak bay??

just pick up some rocks and look for them and peel them of the rocks...the cant really hurt youi...i think?
well i went to alaska, so i know.
you have to look for a a little pool of water,like neer the rocks or somtin. kinda like a tadpool. i found lots of starfish, fish, and little crabs even though i didnt take them.
Its really easy just pick it up from underneath the body.Just look under rocks and on open sand. Thats going to be a really fun experience. There not piosinious by the way. Have fun!~~~
Maybe she only wants to pet it and stuff. She might not want to keep it in captivity it seems everyone thinks that!
They don't exactly try to run away... just pick them up, and put them back when you're done,but not upside-down
Under rocks and in tide pools. You must be vey gental on picking them up. and if they are stuck to a rock and you cant pull it off with two fingers ,LEAVE IT ALONE!!!!
You will hurt the star fish if you pull too hard.

I will give you a few words of warning. Star fish are poor travelers and do not do well captured live. This is why the populations have dropped. 3/4 of all live caught starfish die in transportation yet the demand for starfish remains high.
If you are thinking about bringing one home, chances are he will not make the trip. they have strict requirements. Yes you can find them in the Chessapeak bay, however they will be more in the deeper water this time of the year.
Also, Virginia like most coastal states have laws against removing many ocean creatures with also come with a heafty fine. Blue stars are NOT allowed to even be touched.
