Question:
Answers:
adopt an animal from a shelter for sure... why encourage 'puppy farms' to continue exploiting genetics to make the best looking dog at the expense of the animals long term health and possible defects? Besides, an animal from a shelter is usually so loving and grateful for being rescued.. i should know, both my dogs came from the RSPCA and they are so loving..
Other Answers:
Adopt..then you're usually beyond the housebreaking, chewing everything stage, plus they usually have all their shots.
Purebred animals can't love you any more and the beliefs about being able to predict the personality of a purebred animal are just myths created by breeders.
I have adopted a half-dozen cats from the shelter. All of them have been great pets.
Shelter dog...the ugliest mutt makes the best pet. Purebreds should just be called "inbreds". My sister recently adopted a beagle-jack russell-blue tick mix, and she is the best dog ever!
There are purebreds in the shelters too. You'd be surprised the wonderful animals in there. This is generalizing, but purebreds sometimes have been inbred too much (take German Shepherds). So, it depends. I vote get a pound puppy, you are saving a life. Buying a purebred from a breeder, you a putting money in someones pocket.
Adopt they are the best dogs ever
Someone will eventually take the purebred - by going to the shelter you will save a precious life - another thing, mixed breed dogs are on average much better behaved than most purebreds
Adopt, because the the animal will probably have it shots and a Micro-chip. Also, I would rather take home an dog that really needs a home.
i will adopt dog , why shud i spend more money n participate to make the puupymills getting more money.
i prefer to give love to who needs them themost, i want to save a life.
VIVA SHELTER DOG!
Adopt. Buying doesn't make sense to me when so many animals are put down because the shelter can't afford to feed or care for them. Besides, purebreds are very expensive and require all their shots. The only price you pay for an animal from the shelter is to get them fixed.
I have a mission to enhance, protect and preserve the breed I have been raising for the past 22 years. Show breeders and backyard breeders have been very careless about this breed's overall health, and vitality, so that genetic defects and shortened lifespan were creeping in. I have been successful in doing this, and hope to continue for many years, so that the gene pool gets better and better.
I have a little mutt, that is a rescue. I love her JUST as much as my purebreds.
Adopt from a shelter. Over the years we have adopted all our pets from shelters. 3 dogs and five cats. We have never had a problem with any of them. Now a days they test their temperment and health. Our pets have been the most loving and best companions ever. I truely believe that in a loving home these homeless and most times abused animals know and want to do the right thing and make you happy, just as you want to do for them. My current adoptee who I've had for a month now is sitting on my lap.He is 3 years old and house trained, neutered etc. (They also have puppies if interested, go on petfinder.com type in your area code for all the local shelters and see all the cute wonderful pets available.) Shelter pets need our help! Please Please consider a shelter dog these 4 legged friends need a loving, warm home.
Or... get a purebred from the shelter!
I would buy a purebred if I had a very specific intent for the dog. I compete in Obedience and Agility, and I would buy from a carefully screened breeder in order to get a dog with the particular qualities I'm looking for (health, hips, temperment). There are never any guarantees, but there is no question that a well-bred animal is worth the money. That said, one of my dogs is a rescue, one is a psuedo-rescue, and I'm about to get a new one rescued from the shelter, so I guess I still demonstrate that a fantastic dog need not come from anywhere fancy.
my friend just found a purebred near a prison and it is soooo cute. i luve purebreds but i guess its what specific type. all dogs have personalities. don't discriminate against purebreds or ones from the shelter. they're all cute and cuddly if you treat them w/ respect.
