American Eskimo rescue/please advise?

Question:I just adopted a rescue dog. He's the most beautiful American Eskimo. He's pure white with black "eyeliner" , lips, pads on his feet, and nose.
We fell instantly in love with him. Here's the question. We've never had this type dog before. We have no idea what to expect in terms of temperment, personality, and energy level. Please give me your experiences with this breed. (The facility seems to think he is a purebred.)

Hi, I work with eskies in rescue and currently have two. They tend to be a medium high energy happy house breed. Charlie has a very strong prey instinct, so the cats have their own room because they're not huge fans of being chased. They're pretty long -lived, and pretty healthy overall. They do tend to be doorbell dogs, but if you just tell them that thank you, you know there's someone there and it's all right and they're good dogs for letting you know, they stop barking. Mine get along very well with eachother and visiting dogs, as well as getting along very well at the puppysitters.

We adopted our eskie about one year ago. He is the sweetest dog--so ready to please. He is calm and is very much a cuddler. He loves being around us.

I have taught our dog how to run along side of the bicycle as I ride, which lets him run--in case you have not seen yet, they can run FAST!

I hope you enjoy your dog as much as we do. The only negative is that when he went to obedience class, he was not very tolerant of the puppy behavior, so he would growl at "rudeness" the trainer said it was true of the breed to be like this, but people at the pet shops are not always happy if your dog is growling at their "rude" dog.

Enjoy!
I just adopted my eskie and he is a handful. It seems like he is very sweet by himself but when he is with my other dogs, he starts fighting and growling. It's probably part of the puppy process. How old is your eskie?
Rescues tell me that a lot of eskies end up in the pound because they are not "kid friendly" and that they are known to be very aggressive. Let's hope this info is wrong...
Good luck and have fun with your new dog!
