Question:SO yesterday my mom told me to take my dog to the vet to like get a check up and whatever, so I did. And he got his shots and whatever that dogs get every year. And then she tells me today that in like Aug she took him to another vet and had his shots done. SO I didn't know this, my dogs vet didn't know....and my dog has had shots he doesnt need. Is this bad?
Answers:
Over-vaccination is a potentially nasty problem, but with that much time between his shots, you needn't worry.
In fact, I breed Labradors, so my dogs usually get a Kennel Cough vaccination every 8 months.
Other Answers:
not really
It should not be a problem. He just got his shots a little early. I did that for one of my dogs a couple of years ago because I have two dogs and wanted them to be due for shots at the same time. Plus if you adopt a stray, the vet is going to give him his shots and you've got no way to know if he's had them already.
There will not be a problem. We vaccinate dogs all the time which we have no history for at the vet I work for. Now that you know when vaccinations are due keep your records handy and go back at the same time next year. Most vets will send out reminders.
My 13 year old Lab Shep mix has never had a vaccine and is in great health. Those vaccines can be dangerous, be careful.
