Question:i live in a small house, with a small garden. dont want a yappie, stupid breed. or one thats paris hilton style.

The best dogs I have ever had were the ones I adopted from shelters. I just went there looking for a dog whose personality was one I'd fall in love with, rather than looking for any particular breed, color or size. When the right dog came to me, and snuggled his head against me, I knew I'd found a dog I could love.

get a lab friendly they are real softies
I have a rat terrier (roscoe) and he is a good size for an outdoor or indoor pet. He loves my four year old son and has a good temperment. He is also VERY smart.
get a lab they good pets to have but if you have time to walk one then get a doberman they need allot of exercise but they are a good guard dog.
I agree, shelter puppies are great! Also: schnauzers, pugs, corgis, wire fox terriers and llasa apso's are good dogs to check out.
What about a Besenji. They are very smart and even though they do make vocal noises don't really bark so not yappy!
I never wanted a yappy dog, and I never wanted a little one. Then I got fritz..he is a miniature long haired dachshund. A total love, and not at all prissy. He's just a real dog. Any dog that is taught manners will not be yappy
