Question:My 11 year old dog died July 3rd. My other dog is 7 years old and he is so lonely , they had been togather 24/7 for the last 6 years. he found her under the porch so he knows she is gone.
She had only been sickly about a day and a half so it came as a shock to both myself and my other pet.

I am so sorry that your beloved dog died. Animals definintely feel loss, too, so your 7 year old dog is missing his companion. If you feel it is the right time for a new dog and you are ready to have this new pet in your home, then by all means, start searching to adopt a dog.
My advice would be to take your 7 year old dog with you when you look for adoptable dogs so that you can guage how your own dog reacts to a particular dog up for adoption. If your own dog shows any type of aggression, then don't get that dog. There should be a dog out there that your dog will be accepting of and willing to make new friends with. Having a new companion for your grieving dog will hopefully help him feel better.
awww poor doggy :( they do fret . I would get another dog.. But it's up to you. Hope he is ok ..
Hi from France ♫
It's your choice however I think your dog will be happy with a new '' friend'' !!...
Have a nice day,
Cat.
Sorry for your loss.
If you feel ready to get another dog, then go for it. Don't feel bad though if you aren't ready yet.. some people want to get another dog right away, others need more time to recover from their loss.
I think you should get another one because your dog could get deprest or something and die to.
my yorkies mum died just over a year a go..he knew she was ill ..we laid her downstairs and he wouldnt come down for 2 days..anyway when she went (we mde the decision to put her 2 sleep)he became withdrawn coz his mummy had gone and we got a greyhoud and it perked him up no end they sleep together etc and now he lives happily with 2 greys ..but the choice is down to u as to how long you wait or wether you get another dog xx
Sorry to you and to your pooch for your losses.
I thnk it would be good for your dog to have a companion, it's better than having the dog mope around alone.
Best to both of you.
Take your dog WITH you to pick out a new one. Your dog will let you know if he finds one he wants to love and take care of. If he doesn't find one, wait a few weeks and try again. He will probably be excited about it.
But remember, dogs have deeper emotions and longer memories than most people give them credit. Assure him that you miss the other one, too, and that you will never forget her.
Are YOU ready for a new pup?
aww im sorry thats sad for you and your dog
get anotherone the same age so they will pass around the same time
get a small breed if it is a small dog etc...

Yeah, get him a new girl friend (desexed) and he will be happy again. I have always had two, and they get very lonely when one goes. Dogs are pack animals, and it is nice for them to have someone to talk to in dog language.
On a different note to another poster:
Iron balls and soft brains. That figures.

If your dog is mellow make sure you get another one mellow, if it is hyper get one that is hyper.
I'm sorry to hear about your dog, but he will feel better to have someone to play with.
Go to your local pound and rescue a dog.
