My male dog attracts males like a female...male dogs mount him...help!?

Question:My girlfriend thinks it is funny, but I think I messed my dog when neutering him and I feel guilty. Other dogs seem to think he is a female, really, and, my GF takes him to the park, she thinks it is oK for him to do the female part, she thinks intact males need a "surrogate".
I do not understand. He is 4 y/o already, and he is the only one gettin mounted, but seems to enjoy the attention, but, he is not a female. I read in the American journal of medicine, that neutered males might smell "female" becasue their pituitary glands are releasing excesive ammounts of stimulating hormones trying to jump start the nonexistent testicles and bring testosterone up to normal levels. This is the same high amount females in heat produce...so...my male dog is telling other males he is a female. In fact, female dogs do not like him.I feel terrible, although my GF enjoys looking at our dog acting surrogate female to other males. She told everyone at the park it is "oK to have your dogs mount "sweety"

Answers:
Your girlfriend sounds mean with a warped sense of humor. I wouldn't want make dogs trying to hump my dog whether it was a female or a male. And the people who have the dogs that are doing the humping shouldn't be allowing that. it's really bad dog etiquette! What you explained about extra hormones making your dog smell like a female makes sense. But, still, I don't like the fact that it is funny to your girlfriend. That seems really inappropriate to me.

It is normal get over it.

Your dog is not a dominant dog. The other dogs are simply demonstrating their dominance over your dog. It is not a sexual thing.
i'd get him fixed
this is hilarious.
lol it's funny indeed to start off with. i think he's just soft & feminine. =)
male dogs do this to other males sometimes to show that they're dominate, and the submissive one will let them.
get him fixed
you ever think he's probbly gay.
dump your girlfriend for allowing it, get rid of the dog. Get a not neutered dog.
Well its ok, but make sure that he plays the role of the butch sometimes. No one wants to be on the receiving end constantly...well depends on the situation, but in this case.
Your dogie is bi-curious, sounds like to me LMAO...sorry. Good Luck
You dog is just naturally submissive. It has nothing to do with neutering. A submissive dog is the preference, as long as it's not overly submissive and peeing on the floor when it's scared. Be glad your dog isn't aggressive for goodness sake. Be glad you have a nice dog! Oh, and get a new girlfriend! She sounds like a fool.
ask a vetenarian
it's ok..don't freak, some animals are gay. lol
it's probably just the other dogs being dominant. "mounting" doesn't just have to be done by males. it's just showing dominance.
You have a dirty, gay dog. I think you should beat it out of him. Punch him or kick him whenever a dog mounts him.

You need to take care of this before it gets out of hand. Everyone knows your dog is a reflection of you. Like when guys own pitbulls and rotweillers, its supposed to make them look tough, right? I mean, we don't get dogs because we just like dogs, do we? So your gay dog is making you look gay. This must be tearing you apart.

Beat him or set him loose a few miles away from your house if he doesn't learn, or before you know it, you'll have men mounting you!
Always Right is right... always.
Sorry I think you messed your dog up, I mean what if he gets attacked? He isn't gonna have the "balls" to fight any dog off.
Your dog might be gay
He's gay but never got around to coming out the closet, what can you do eh?! I say go out to your local pet store and get him a pink leather studded collar, put it on him, sit back and relax :0)
Your male dog whether neutered or not is what is called a non dominant dog. Dogs and other animals will hump other animals to show dominance. And it's not because he's homosexual and it's not because he's not producing testosterone he's just a non dominant dog.
Nothing to worry about. Its just a dog thing. It would happen rather you had him neutered or not, so don't feel guilty. You did the right thing.
I would be upset too, to tell you the truthh. But I have seen dogs do this when they were not fixed. I do not know about your girlfriend, I would not want my male dog mounted and actually... I have a rottweiller and he is not fixed, he has never been mounted that I have seen, I have seen him mount other dogs, It may be a dominance thing.
