Question:Is there any possibility at all that either of the two pups from the previous litter could have impregnated their mother this time around, or would they have been too young to reproduce at that point in time?
(Yeah I know, highly irresponsible of my friend btw, but I'm just curious if this scenario is even slightly plausible!)
Answers:
Likely they are too young to impregnate their mother.. She would have been bred in May.. Puppies would only be 5 mos old. It's not entirely impossible, but it's pretty unlikely.
Yes it is possible...Please have your friend be more responsible...
I guess anything is possible but highly unlikely at 5 mos of age.
I hope you are trying to talk her into spaying her dog.
Yes. Males can start reproducing at 4-5 months actually. But usually they are 6 months or a little older before they have developed enough live sperm to successfully reproduce. If you are referrring to the pups she had today, then maybe not. That would be borderline. They carry puppies an avg of 62 to 66 days.
Her older puppies are to young, they couldn't of done it.
Absolutely plausible, she should have them all neutered asap. Try having a word with her before there is even more inbreeding. Shepherds can have a difficult temperament even when they're not incestuously bred.
If the new pups are pure GSD then presumably she has her answer, unless a male GSD just happened past her house and broke into her yard at the appropriate time!
Well, and don't quote me on this, I think female dogs go into heat at 6 months old. Those pups would have been about 5 1/2 to 6 months old at the time she got pregnant.
Has the dog been exposed to any other male dogs at all? If absolutly not, then it would have had to be one of the kids.
Tell her to get the dog fixed and she won't have this problem.
at 5 months old.. not likely.. but not entirely impossible. Most dogs start to become sexually mature around 6 months or so. The only way to know for sure is a DNA test.
