What kind of (smalll) dog should I get?

Question:I want a small dog that dose not need to much space, good price, fun, not spoiled, lives long, small enough for me to carry he/she in a cage ect...
So what should it be?

Answers:
I have a large Airedale Terrier but as far as small dogs go I'm particle to both the Boston Terrier and the Italian Greyhound.

Do your research though.

Dogs are alot of work.

Consider checking for a rescue group for the breed you choose.

They can give you tips on what the good and bad points of the breed are.

They may have a rescued dog available who would be a good match for you.

If not they may be able to point you in the direction of a reputable breeder.

NEVER EVER EVER buy a dog from a pet store.

I've been involved with Airedale rescue.

try a maltese... or a yorkie, or a poodle.. those are all cute... small and pretty clean if u taught them ....and very loving too..

get the Taco Bell dog
I always wanted a miniature dachschund. Weiner dogs rule. Just don't get a poodle.
Jack Russel, there funny they try and shag ur leg
yorkie, or a play pluto
A WEENER DOG!
bichon frise they are small but not too small, they do not shed at all.
It should be the kind you can pick up at your local animal shelter. They have a wide variety, good luck =)
My favorites are minature pinschers and dachschunds.
get a dashdund...toy poodle (so ah-dorable)or a chuichachau
Poodles do not shed if you are concerned with dog hair in your house, but find a even tempered one is somewhat of a challenge
there are tones of small dogs in Texas. And they are really cheap.
a yorkie poo.. they are so cute.. i am getting one this summer
wiener dog!
I suggest a toy poodle. If you work with them at 8 weeks, they train easily and not as hyper as other small dogs I have been around. They do not shed which is great. I have had only one and he is now 9. I have taken very good care of him and he has his regular Dr visits and grooming. My sister has had two and recently purchased her third. Her little girl passes away a couple months ago and she has ordered headstones for them, they were her pride and joy.

I greatly advise a poodle.
A beagle but they have different types so some might be bigger than the other kind. The smallest one is more common i think.
Don't get a dog from a pet store. Go to your local pound. It'll be a hell of alot cheaper than some overbred designer dog from a pet store. Plus you usually get shots and spay/neuter included along with a microchip. Not to mention you'll be saving a life. Pick one that doesn't bark at you.
a few come to mind, a shitz tzu a pomeranian, and i hate to say it but a chuwowa its spelled wrong but you get my meaning
A short haired Jack Russell. Small, clean, does not drop hairs, faithful and just about one of the best dogs ever.
Yorkshire terrier i have one
tea cup chihuahua
i have a small min pin he is great and so much company to me i had rather be around him than most people i no
Westies are small (not tiny, though), and a lot of fun!
Terriers (like yorkies or Jack Russels) in general are usually very active, so even though they can do without lots of room, they do need exercise--walks, etc, and LOTS of activity.
If you clicker-train your dog you can start right away, it is extremely effective, and lots of fun, for you and the dog.
These answers r all good, but what u need is a chihuahu X, from the local pound. They have all the essentials. Small, dont need much space, affectionate, funny, quiet, lives long. Please do not carry in a cage. Use a bag, if u get them used to it, they will be fine. They will be quite fine and happy to be with u.
i have a Yorkshire terrier
I have 2 shih- tzus they do not need much space or exercise... they love to play, but they also like to curl up on the couch with their favourite person... my female is 10 pounds, so she's small enough to bring anywhere, males tend to be approx 18 pounds ....they live approx 10-12 years ..... if you go to a breeder they are usually under 400.00 with no papers.. how spoiled they are depends on you.... even my boyfriend who hated small dogs when we met now loves my dogs & takes them everywhere.... I would not trade them for anything.
Pomeranian---I have 2. They are wonderful dogs. I drive an 18 wheeler and they are with me. Potty training was a breeze. They are very loving dogs, and they will protect you. Just give them lots of love and attention---you'll have a friend for life. Check out my 360page for pictures of them
%I prefer mutes, Go to the pound and pic one up. ITS A LOT CHEAPER.
All of the toy breeds are cute. Just make sure you go a reputable breeder. DO NOT BUY FROM A PET STORE.
I would recommend a minature Shih Tzuz. They are so loving fun, and not a whole lot of trouble. They are easily trained- they are just a whole lot of pleasure, and they are not a shedding dog, don't attract fleas-musquitoes though. If we lived in an erea where they were bad, it might be a different story.Price wise, they run around 400 dollars or so, but they are worth every dime! Try one you will love it!
