My 7 month old Blue pit bull has numerous small bumps under his coat. Does anyone know what this is?

Question:We've been using the $25 medicated shampoo that the vet prescribed for it, but it seems to be getting worse instead of better. We are still giving 3 baths per week, when we should be down to 1 bath per week by now. The bumps are smallish and they aren't red, but white. The vet said something about clogged hair follicles, but like I said, the shampoo for this condition isn't working. The only other alternative that the vet gave us was allergies, but the allergy screening is expensive. Are there any particular allergies that Blues are or may be prone to and what is known to relieve the dog of this condition?

Answers:
I HAVE A BLUE PIT THAT IS 3 YRS. OLD AND SHE HAVE THAT PROBLEM FROM TIME TO TIME A BLUE DOG HAS A WEAK IMMUNE SYSTEM AND THEY LIKE TO SCRATCH A LOT MAINLY BECAUSE MITE ARE UNDER THEIR SKIN GET FLEA AND TICK SHAMPOO AND DIP THEM AND GIVE THEM SOME BREW YEAST PILLS EVERYDAY FOR THEIR SKIN AND A OATMEAL BATH TO SOOTHE THEIR SKIN AND IT WILL HELP GET RID OF THE LITTLE BUMPS.

i don't actually know what it is, but if its allergies, then use a different shampoo.
fatty tumors, maybe,, but this does not usually happen until later in life,,, if you can move them around and they are soft,, fatty tumor,, nothing to worry about,, if they are hard and don't move,,, well thats a differnt sort,,may be cancer.
If the puppy has clogged hair follicles, this is like doggie acne. I read that this happens mostly to dogs under 1 year old, and it stops on its own at sexual maturity. The vet probably gave you a shampoo with benzoyl peroxide in it, to unclog the pores. But sometimes the shampoo isn't enough if the infection is deep seated. You should ask the vet for a round of oral antibiotics to go along with the shampoo, for now. Eventually, it will go away, but it doesn't sound like allergies, because allergies typically show up after a dog is 1 year old (usually). I hope your puppy feels better soon!
go to another vet if that is not working ur dog need to try another thing, ask ur vet if he did a scraping skin u need to look in the microscope and see the answer to the problem sometimes they give u treat like that one so u can come back and back, trust me, do u really think that a shampoo can cure that, please, if u say that is a prescription deep like amitraz or others that i know but a shampoo it cam calm down but not cure...
it could just be doggy pimples.

the dog food can cause this as well some dogs have problems with food that has wheat or corn..

it could be what u use to clean ur floors or clothes.

grass.
fleas.
season change.

try giving a bath with oatmeal baby shampoo. or if the dog doesn't mind water try an oatmeal soak.

try changing one thing at a time.u'll get it figured out...takes some time though.

good luck!
you need to have him tested for dermadectic mange it might not be dermodectic but best to rule that out what your describing is how it normally starts
here are some links on differant types of mange
