My dog wont stop ripping his dog food bags open and getting really fat?

Question:but i cant put them anywhere else because i have a small flat and no storage space. also if i put a mussle on him... he manages to chew it off somehow ?:S?

Answers:
Keeping a dog muzzled all the time is no way to live and can be dangerous - if he were to vomit or overheat while wearing a muzzle he could easily die if no one was around to take it off. Keep the food in a closet or behind a door.

i had to put my cat food in a bug tupper ware container
Locked cabinet. And if hes always chewing through things he needs obedience classes.
A small rubbermaid tub shouldn't take up much more room than a bag of dog food, and they work like a charm.
We keep our dog's food in a large plastic container. It helps keep the food fresh, as well.
They make plastic and metal containers that fix a bag of dog food. Maybe that will stop him, or a least slow him down and you can catch him in the process.
put his food in a tote
Instead of leaving it in the bag, get one of the plastic bins that are available for dog food storage. Cured my pom who was VERY creative about being able to get into the bags!
Buy a tupperware container that the dog food will fit in. He should not be able to get into that, I had the same problem with my dogs. Now they are unable to get into it.
Well try a pet trainer
By a tall trash bin with a lid on it and empty the bag into that each time you get a new bag of dog food. Just make sure it is sturdy and the lid is one that can close not one that swings back and forth to open.
Put the bags in some sort of storage container the dog can't get into. Muzzling him all the time is cruel, still if the muzzle is properly fitted the dog shouldn't be able to get it off.
for like 30$ dollars at target you can get this tubber ware thing specially made for 50 lb bags of dog food.
they make container small enough to store the bag,,,you can even put the bag in them,,larger pet stores like petco/petsmart should have them,,,after all if you left candy out and your kids ate them you'd find a way to prevent it :)
Buy a metal storage container than cannot be chewed through with a secure lid and latch (perhaps a lockabale one). I've had dogs that will chew through a plastic container.
You can get these storage bins called "Vittles Vault" They have a thick screw-on lid and some are supposed to be airtight. I'd get one and put it behind a closed door, like in a closet or your bathroom, while you're gone. Hopefully that'll stop him from being so creative!!

BTW, is your dog a beagle or cocker spaniel??
well you are going to have to fond another place to put the dog food. because that is why he chews it open because he has nothing else to chew on and dogs are always hungry.
Put the food in a different container. Maybe a plastic tub or somthing.
Sounds like your dog needs some obedience classes. In any case, buy some plastic or metal containers that he can't chew through and put the food in there, instead of keeping it in the bag. In the end, though, if you are incapable of controlling and training your dog, maybe you shouldn't have him. Sorry, but it is the truth. Better sign up for the classes. Good luck!
I had a German Shepherd like this. I put her food in a garbage can, in a shed that was on stilts. She jumped through the window (no glass), pulled down the garbage can, CHEWED OFF THE LID and ate until she couldn't. All night she slept on her back, tooting every hour or so.

There was no training her when it came to food. The burden was on us to isolate the food even more. If you have a small flat, I suggest something metal. (Plastic isn't a deterrent IMHO)

Best of luck

you need something like this
Put it in a metal container, not plastic. Because if he can chew the muzzle off, then he can chew through plastic.
You have to put the food up someplace where the puppy can't get at it
I keep my dogs food in a plastic container. They make them specificly for that reason.

Good Luck
