im sorry about what happened 2 your dog my chihuahua was run over about 2 years ago his name was oso and after that happened i waited 6 months before i could get another dog it was really hard
if u want another small dog get a yorkshire terrier or adopt a dog at your local animal shelter

Look in the paper under pets, and look to see if there is any free to a good home adds in there! Now that is cheap and look for something small if your a busy person. Big dogs have big messes and little dogs have little messes!! Much easier in my eyes atleast! GL
Your best bet ias to go off to your closest SPCA - there are so many dogs there who are simply desperate for a home they can call their own and a owner who cares as much as you do. Go take a look, and why not give one a home?
If you feel now is the time that you can give fair love to another dog, this is the right time to get another one. It's up to you.
I think that you should greive first before you go getting another dog to replace the other. You cant just replace a dog. It doesn't work like that. First of all, I'm really sorry about your dog. Secondly, I'd recommend a mutt to anyone. You can find them of pretty much any temperament, size, and coloration. I love them.
If you're looking for a purebred dog (which are normally many times more expensive), I'd suggest some kind of terrier for small and energetic. If you're able to give them lots of exercise, a terrier would be good.
i feel sorry for your chihuahua. anyways you should try getting something bigger so its harder for people to not see it. retrievers are playful and im pretty sure theyre smarter than chihuahuas. theyll probably run away if a car was going towards it.. unlike your chihuahua.

I'm assuming that this happened quite a long time ago. If this happened to my dog, I would probably lose touch of reality.
The best thing might be to not get another dog. The reason I'm saying this is because if it happens again, I'm assuming that you'll feel bad, and a double-whammy is not what you want.
You should get a dog that acts and looks exactly like your old one. You may think it would be painful but instead of grieving when you look at it you will think of happy things. And not to be offensive unlike some people on here you get get electric fences are not the expensive and wire ones are very cheap, i would just hate to see another animal die in this cruel world.

Dogs should all be on a leash when out in the open, otherwise they get run over easily.
