Help! My dog ate a Nylabone!!!!!!!...

Question:I gave him an edible bacon-flavored Nylabone for puppies, petite size, and my dog ate most of it!!

Is it okay? It ate off like an inch off both the ends!

Answers:
That's what they do! I throw them away once they are that chewed up.

I recommend getting the harder nylabones for intense chewers instead of the more flexible ones.

My labs are really big chewers and can tear up those really hard ones too, it just takes a lot longer.

EDIT: If your dog ate a big peice of the bone, take him to the vet. Your vet can X-ray him and make sure everything is fine.

if it says its edible - if he isn't choking and goes to the bathroom regularly today he is fine.
key word-EDIBLE. he's fine.
As long as he chewed it well, it should be okay. But I would keep a close eye on him in case there is a large chunk that won't be easily digested. Sometimes, even thoug these things say they're edible, they have to be chewed well to be digested properly. If you notice anything strange, like a day or two without pooping than go to the vet immediately.

I don't give my dog any edible chews because she's a gobbler and will break off pieces and swallow them whole.
If the package that the bone came in says that it is edible, than your dog is going to be fine. But, if the package says that it is non edible, than take the bone away and make sure that you check his stool to make sure that it passes. Nylabone makes edible ones that the dogs can chew and eat them and they also make the ones that are non edible.
he should be fine...i do not recommend nylabones for anysize dog, look at their ingredients...ugh...if you want something to give them to keep them busy, try marrow bones (or soup bone) you get at the grocery store...boil them and then freeze them...give them one frozen and they will be busy for hours licking the marrow out of them, as soon as they start trying to bite/chew them take them away so they dont break their teeth.
The answer depends on the definition of edible and how big the chunks were. Our Mastiffs eat the "indestructible" Nylabones by shaving off little pieces. But we can't give the "indestructible" Nylabones to a full-sized Mastiff because their jaws are strong enough to eat them in chunks as if they were Milk-Bones. If I remember correctly the "indestructible" Nylabones say on the label that they are "edible" but that only means that very small pieces will pass through the dog, not that the dog can actually digest it. The same tends to be true of other "edibile" bones by other manufaturers, the small shaving will pass through but the large chunks won't.
If he ate i sooooo fast he might throw up or get sick. Otherwise don't be scared or worried
My pup has eaten edible (not plastic "edible" but actually made to be eaten) Nylabones in the petite size in less than thirty minutes before and he's been fine. Just keep an eye on your puppy to make sure he's using the bathroom normally and isn't feeling bad. He should be fine.
