What type of clipper blades are recommended for trimming a schnoodle (Schnauzer/poodle mix)?

Question:I've been doing the grooming myself for my schnoodle (20 pounds) and would like to go shorter with him for this summer. The blades that came with my trimmer don't seem to be working for taking off a lot of length. Any suggestions for blades that are recommended for schnoodle hair ( long, slightly curly that does not shed and prone to matting if not regularly brushed)

Answers:
i do dog grooming and i would use a 5 blade. That would make it about 1 inch or you could use a guard and that would make it 11/2. you can buy them on line or at a pet store. i hope this helps

Make sure your blades are sharpened regularly. I use a #10, but I get them sharpened a couple times a year and it makes a huge difference.
