Question:my dog had benign masses removed 31/2 years ago. a couple months ago she began severe vomiting. within 24-36 hrs she would be back to normal. one month later she began the vomiting again and again recovered quickly. the 3rd time it took longer to recover so i took her to the vet. he did blood work and x-rays to see if the mass had returned. the blood work came back normal as did the x-rays. now she has started having what i would call seizures. she shakes for a few seconds, stops then starts again. this lasts for 20-40 mins. another thing i have noticed is constant sniffing in the grass outdoors. i mean with her nose as far down in the grass as she possibly could and then eating something. i dont know if she could be eating something toxic. she is almost 12 yrs old and a 40 lb husky mix.

Hi, Mary. This could be any number of things, especially with her medical history and the fact that she's 12 years old. She needs to see a vet, preferably a specialist who has the equipment to make a proper diagnosis.
Bring her indoors or confine her away from the grass if you suspect she is eating something she shouldn't.
Your description remainds me rather of the first symptoms of epilepsy. Epilepsy can result from a variety of reasons, poisoning is one of them. Please check "Canine Epilepsy Network" in internet, it is a very good source of information. I would also check, what your dog eats, sometimes dogs eat small mushrooms, which can lead to poisoning.
This situation was just like the thing that happened to my friend. Her dog had a tumor, but they weren't experiencing any side effects like you. her dog had to be put down though becuase he was too old to have surgery. and, the tomor could be anywhere, not just a brain tumor. Sorry if this happens to you.
