hiya i had my she done asap i think this is a personel decision i thought it would be cruel to let her have one lot then take them away i know that have her done will help against tumours in later life x
This is absolutely not true, I don't know where this hoary old myth comes from but it is highly irresponsible to let a dog have a litter when there are already far too many puppies without homes. Have the dog spayed as soon as you can - it can be done from about 8 weeks (mine was done then by the RSPCA). Please don't even think about adding to the dog overpopulation!
yes it's true. she can have messy heat cycles and has a greater risk of getting tumors and breast cancer if she's not spayed. it's harder to spay after she's had a litter, unless u want a "puppies galore."-helps control stray over-pet-population-will help in controling population of strays and such if the puppies end up w/out homes. we got our dog spayed as soon as she was old enough to reproduce and she's a "normal" healthy dog plus puppies if she got pregnant would include higher vet bills and we'd have no placement for them (we don't have a fenced in yard) she doesn't know the difference-sure she felt tired and a little weird on the inside when she woke up and for the first week after being spayed but she's still her own self.

NO NO NO NO!! It actually is very risky for a female to have a litter, especially the first time! It is also very costly to the owner to have a litter, AND many females die of complications during pregnancy and delivery. The healthiest time to spay a female is before 6 months of age, becuase the lack of hormones prevents many types of cancers.
This is an old wives tale that we in rescue hear many times, and I promise you it is UNTRUE!!!
Its better to just get her spayed. Its hard to find decent homes for puppies anymore. Plus in my experience it made our dog more aggressive. The prevent illness thing is wrong dogs are actually more likely to get tumors in there ovaries after haveing puppies.
This is a wives tale only. Get her spayed asap. Spaying prior to heat cycle is best for prevention of hormonally driven cancers. Don't wait for first heat or first litter. Just get the surgery asap.
No it is NOT true. It is actually the opposite..the more often a dog goes in heat the higher her chances become of pyometria and mammary cancer..Having a litter is very hard on a dog and can lead to other problems.infections, mastitis,etc
