when their young, its just a phase. They usually mature out of it. When Dogs are older, either they are copying off of another younger dog doing it, which is a jealousy issue and too will grow out of it but theres also rare problems when dogs do that because they have an illness.
A lot of dogs do it, and it may not cease ever. It might, but it also might not. I have a purebred West Highland White Terrier and his dumb *** eats his own as well.
There are several brands of pills you can give your dog that will make their poo taste very bad to them.
I have two dogs and my boy dog used to love to snack on my girl dogs poo.I gave her the pills and within one day, my boy dog wouldn't even go near it. I continued giving my girl dog the pills for a couple weeks just to get him out of the habit and now all is splendid and I don't mind when he licks me anymore!hehehee
This is a very nasty habit. The actual name of this is Coprophagia. My puppy did this also and my vet suggested a product called Deter. You can buy this at Petsmart. Its a chewable tablet that has natural vegetable enzymes in it and it makes the feces taste really nasty. My puppy is trained to go on pee pads, so if I don't get to the poo quick enough he would eat it. These Deter tablets have completly stopped him from doing this. You do it for about 2 weeks and if its still not working you can continue give one tablet a day for as long as you need to. Its perfectly safe and effective, plus my vet recommended it. It must be good if my vet suggested it. Its about 12 -14 dollars for a 120 count supply. It really works, thank goodness.
who knows why they do that. maybe try putting cayene pepper on the doggy doo.
If it isn't there, she can't eat it.
Clean it up ASAP.
