Question:I adopted a perfectly healthy pointer/boxer mix. He's 3 years old and 75pds. Everytime he sees a cat,he shakes,almost vibrates. But when I pull him out of eye sight of the cat,hes perfectly fine. Whats going on with him?

He's either really scared of cats or he's really excited to see the cat and wants to chase it. It's not a big problem. He just has a phobia like any other human would. =)
maybe he had a bad experience with cats and he is scared of them.
he might have had a bad experience wth one when he was younger. Just like some dogs don't like men some dogs don't like cats and it might be a good idea to keep him away from cats if you can help it.
He is just really excited and he wants to go eat the cat.
You said the key word... "adopted" and "3 years old". He's a rescue dog, it sounds like and you don't know his history. He might have been beaten for playing with cats... OR... he might have been beaten up bad by a cat when younger.
I seriously doubt a 75lb boxer is scared of a cat. It is shaking because it's instinctive reaction is to rip the feline to shreds. Is the dog obviously cowering in fear or is it dragging you across the park to get at the puss???
