No, if your dog is trained to go potty, eat in the right places, etc. you can let him out..
But you can also try crate training him, for traveling or when you have to go somewhere and can't bring him along, 'cause if he isn't crate trained he'll be whining and barking while your gone, scaring the neighbors, lol!:))
You can go to PetVideo.com and see a crate training video, but if you don't want to, that's perfecly fine.
Okay, Im goin' of topic, anyways as long as your dog is house trained, keep him out of the crate.he can get bored, it's like torture for him in there, trust me, I have dogs too and they hate the crate!:))
You should first start out by leaving the dog home alone for like 5 minutes. If he does fine, leave him alone for 10 minutes next time. Keep repeating this pattern. You will soon learn how long your dog can stay home alone. If it doesnt do well for a long time, go back to putting it in the crate when you leave for a long time.
Absolutely not!! Leave the crate available for his security for a bit but he deserves the freedom. He might chew on some things at first but then he will learn and be a better puppy. Leaving him locked up could also make him shy.
At night, yes, until you know he is well accustomed to the house rules. In theory, a dog isn't fully housetrained until they are 1 year old, provided you got them and started training them when they were a puppy. Even when you are home, it's ok to leave your dog in the cage for a certain amount of time, just to show him that just because your home isn't an automatic ticket out of the cage. Don't leave him in there all day though, because of the fact he'll get restless and kind of upset that you're out and running around and he can't get some attention from his favorite friend. Also, try not to use the crate for punishment, because the dog will begin to start associating the crate with bad things and be more stubborn and difficult going and staying in the cage.
We put ours away when we expect to have a big noise in the house - like carpet cleaning people. It's much better for the employees and the dog. When they are done and gone with all the "scary" equipment we let her out.
Well since you trained him in a crate I would have it where leave him alone for 5 mins and so on. But always have it out for him because it may be a comfort zone for him or her now.
That would depend. I would try leaving him out while you go to the grocery store or somewhere that won't take a long time. See how he did if you return and nothing is messed up then leave him longer. Each time alittle longer until he has fully adapted to life outside of the crate and house broken
i wont advice it, if he is behaving well when u are away and house trained, why crate him?
no! he should be free in your house. what is the reason for house-training him if you're not gonna let him out of his cage?
No if he is hous trained remove the pin and replace with a doggy bead
yes, i would and did. i crate trained my Jug till he was 1 year old. just beacuse your dog is house broken, doesn't mean that he'll behave while your away. crate training is used for more then just controling potty issues.
Yes, it's his safe place now.
I don't think so--give it a trial run, you may experience an accident once or twice but he'll get the message. Good luck.
I just dont agree with crating and it just seems so cruel. You can house train a dog without using a crate.
at first yes
